Sinhala & Hindu New Year Celebration

A joyful celebration of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year organized by the Hudson Valley Buddhist Vihara Sri Lankan Community in April 2023, held at 320 Diddell Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.

This special cultural gathering brought together children, adults, families, and friends to experience the warmth, traditions, and joyful spirit of the Sri Lankan New Year right here in the Hudson Valley.

Everyone enjoyed traditional New Year games, fun activities, delicious Sri Lankan food, and traditional sweets, creating wonderful memories for all generations. The celebration provided a beautiful opportunity for the Sri Lankan community to come together, share our culture, and pass cherished traditions on to the younger generation.

The event was warmly hosted in the home garden of HVBV President Preethi Atulugama, whose generous support helped make this memorable celebration possible.

A day filled with laughter, tradition, friendship, and the true spirit of the Sri Lankan New Year.
