Vesak Sil Observance
A deeply meaningful Vesak Sil Observance was held on May 19, 2024, at the Hudson Valley Buddhist Vihara, 26 Red Hawk Ln, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
On this sacred Vesak day, members of our community gathered to observe Sil, meditate, listen to Dhamma teachings, and reflect on the life and teachings of the Buddha. Vesak is especially significant as it commemorates the three great events in the Buddha’s life—His birth, Enlightenment, and Parinibbāna.
It was a beautiful day of devotion and togetherness, as children, parents, elders, and devotees came together to honor the Buddha and strengthen their commitment to the Dhamma.
These photographs preserve the precious memories of one of the early Vesak celebrations at our new Vihara—a place that had become a long-awaited home for our community.
“The gift of Dhamma excels all gifts.” — The Buddha
A day of faith, reflection, and gratitude—together in the Dhamma.
